Engineering New Zealand advocates for engineers across New Zealand: setting standards of practice, celebrating achievements, and supporting performance. One of the core principles promoted by ENZ is that of ethical practices within the industry.
At Lift, we worked with ENZ to develop an online learning module to test engineers’ knowledge of this principle. We wanted this experience to feel more like reading an online magazine than a piece of formal learning, where the engineers could dip in and out of the content and explore it at their leisure. We brought the principle to life through the use of storytelling – five animated and narrated case studies (based on real events). These case studies present an engineer with a moral dilemma to consider. They are then given feedback on their decision and shown how ethical principles applied to that situation.
